Without hiding their pride, the people of Split will tell you that their city is "the most beautiful one in the world and beyond". You better not discuss this with them for well spirited Split will convince you in this as soon as you discover it! This for ever young city with the population of about 200,000 that give it its warm Mediterranean temper, has lived its urban rhythm for as long as 1700 years, with its heart in the Diocletian Palace and its soul widespread to embrace you. Ever since the life of the city protected by the UNESCO and entered into the register of the World Cultural Heritage has been writing the history of this unique capital of Dalmatia.
The city of Split is situated in the warmest region of the northern Mediterranean coast, in the very centre of the Adriatic eastern coast and in the immediate vicinity of the rivers Jadro and Žrnovnica that have been watering it for 1700 years. Its mild climate, with 2700 sunny hours per year, makes it an oasis where, sheltered from the wind, sailors can enjoy the sun even in wintertime.
Milna is located on the western part of the island Brac part of the Croation Dalmatian islands. Only 18 kilometers from Supetar, it is famous for its marvellous bay, in which the ships of the emperor Diokletian found a secure harbour in the time of the building of his palace in Split. Today Milna is a sleepy village, there is a marina with several berths which attracts many a famous name arriving on their fabulous superyachts, we think it is like St Tropez forty years ago! Milna is the best natural harbor on the island of Brac. Nice coves with sand and pebble beaches (Pasika, Osibova, Lucice, Maslinova) stretch in the vicinity of the harbor. There is also a very nice public beach at the cove of Vlaska. Sports and recreational facilities are available and include soccer, basketball and volleyball playgrounds, bocce grounds and table tennis. For those that prefer more active vacations, Milna offers many activities such as swimming, scuba-diving, fishing and spear-fishing, surfing and sailing.
Stari Grad (Hvar - Pharos) is a town and a harbor at the end of the four nautical mile long bay on the northern side of the island of Hvar. Stari Grad is surrounded with vineyards, olive-groves and pine tree forest. Chief occupations include farming, viniculture, olive growing, fruit growing, grapes processing, fishing and tourism. Stari Grad is a modern tourist centre.
A variety of accommodation facilities (hotels, apartments, rooms, camps and bungalows), domestic specialties offered in restaurants and wine cellars and sports and recreational opportunities (tennis, basketball, football and bocce including water sports surfing and diving) attract many visitors.
The summer months offer numerous cultural and sports events: The Summer of Stari Grad, concerts, recitals and shows. Surrounding sea is well-known for its rich fish world, and the beaches are rocky, concrete and pebble. Smaller beaches are located in the coves inside the bay, and the underwater fishing is possible along the northern coast of the bay.
Hvar is one of most popular tourist destination in Europe. The city of Hvar has a long and distinguished history as center for trade and culture in the Adriatic. Hvar has celebrated 140 years of organized tourism, and today it is considered to be one of the 10 most beautiful islands in the world.

Hvar is proud that it has the most sunny hours of all the islands in the Adriatic Sea. Many people say of the town Hvar that it is a town as from a fairy- tale because its arhitecture, wonderful nature and its mild climate. The town of Korcula, the historical centre of the island, has a very nice location in the Peljesac Channel. Korcula is among 20 paradise islands. „The greenest, most independent and most interesting of Croatia's 1,185 and more islands, Korcula was a favorite Greek holiday spot over 2,000 years ago.
Very much a law unto itself - as you might expect from a community that resisted the sieges of centuries - Korcula town is a mini-fortress enclosed with honey-colored stone walls that contain hidden treasures, from icons to Tiepolos, as well as architectural delights in every narrow, cobbled street. „The Observer, Sept 2003. It is the birthplace of the adventurer and traveller Marco Polo. Today Korcula is an important tourist centre. Tourism has a years-long tradition on the island.
Along the south shore of the island of Hvar there is another small island of Šćedro. Protected as a nature park, in its untouched beauty, with many hidden coves, it provides an intimate experience to every visitor and once you feel the charm of those quiet coves, sweet aromas of nature and glimmering sun on crystal clear water you would want to stay forever.
Since the Ancient times Šćedro coves have been known as good places for anchorage and safe harbors, quite possibly one of the most epic battles like the one between Pompeius and Caesar in 49 B.C., might have happened here as numerous discoveries in the depths around Šćedro attest to. Long time ago because of the somewhat more humid climate than that on the island of Hvar, wheat was cultivated on Šćedro.On the hill there is an old abandoned village called Nastane, which will take you back to history with its picturesque stone houses.
Milna is a place In the vicinity of Hvar town, in a quiet corner on the southern slopes of the Hvar island. It is located in a privileged position, in a peaceful bay but if visitor wants, rich nightlife and during summer crowdy Hvar town is just 5 kilometers from Milna. It was founded in the mid 20th century when the villagers of Grablje Malo (located in the interiors of Hvar), because of the poor economic conditions decided to migrate to the bay where now lays Milna. The village of Grablje Malo is still there, located between three hills, some 2 km away from the coast, very well preserved, showing traditional Dalmatian architecture.
Visitors can enjoy local dishes at the food service located in a remodeled Renaissance summer palace from 17th century. In Milna there are two beaches and other two are located nearby. The pine forest that adorns the coast offers a very pleasant shade, while the cafes and restaurants found there offer a different way to refreshment. The easiest way to reach Milna is by a ferry boat departing from Split to Stari Grad on Hvar. In the port, take the bus in direction to Hvar town. In conclusion, if you can not resist the attractions of a popular destination such as Hvar town, however want to have privacy and tranquility, Milna is a perfect choice.
